Weather is Tough on Sports, Too!

MILLERSPORT -- Our lousy Spring weather has been tough on sports too. Rain and cold weather have forced area schools to cancel or reschedule dozens of baseball and softball games as well as track meets. The sun reappeared Monday after a dismal weekend. The strong winds dried up the diamonds so Liberty Union was able to play Millersport as scheduled. However, the strong west to east wind turned the first inning in a one-hour plus marathon with both pitchers having trouble t h r owi n g s t r i k e s . Both teams scored the maximum 10 runs at their turn at bat in the inning.

Liberty Union added 15 more runs in the next four innings, while holding the Lakers to one
additional run. The Lions had 27 hits, including a grand slam by Tony Miller. Sam Johnson had four hits and seven RBI. The final score was 25-11.

The run-fest wasn't much fun for the few hardy fans wrapped in blankets to ward off the wind.
